Erin Jane McGee

After a very long labor (30 hours or so), our little girl entered our world last Friday night at 9:20pm. Erin arrived weighing 6 lbs 10 oz and was 21 inches in length (although length is debatable as she had one of the worst cone-heads we've ever seen that must have added an inch - yes, it's gone now). We've now been home for a week and so far so good. Of course, we never know what each night is going to look like but welcome any amount of sleep that we do get. Overall, she's not too bad and has not felt the need (yet) to be a night-owl.

Erin had her first two pediatrician appointments this week. On Tuesday she weighed in at 6 lbs 4 oz and was given a clean bill of health. We went back on Friday for her second set of newborn screening tests (consisting of a heal prick for blood samples - such a trooper, she didn't cry at all!) and another weigh-in. Our little girl is not going to stay little for very long...10 oz weight gain between Tuesday AM and Friday afternoon!!! So yes, feedings are going well. The greatest part about this is the doctor gave us permission to let her go 5 hours between feedings at night. Now, if she would only sleep those full 5 hours we'd be good to go. Again, not complaining as she does sleep at night...we can always hope for another hour or two though, right?!?

Here are pictures from the week:
